My late father Alan Davidson was the author of a number of much-loved YA and children’s novels published from the late 1970s through to his final year in 2012 including The Bewitching of Alison Allbright (W. H. Allen/Puffin). Many of his works are still available to buy as ebooks.
From the 1960s through to the 1980s, Alan Davidson worked as a freelance script writer, creating many popular characters for leading comics publishers both overseas and in the UK, including for Fleetway Publications (now IPC Magazines). His stories for Fleetway (both completes and long-running serials) appeared mostly in Jinty, June, Pink, Tammy, Sally, Misty and several Annuals.
In 2019, Rebellion reprinted his serial Fran of the Floods as a graphic novel and followed this up in 2022 with The Best of Cat Girl (a character he created for Sally). This limited collectors' edition is already sold out in print but is now available as an ebook.
If you wish to quote from, reproduce, develop characters or otherwise use Alan Davidson’s work in any way, please contact me. I will put you in touch with my sister who handles permissions enquiries on behalf of his Estate, which retains copyright in texts and concepts. We’d be delighted to help but we do need to know. Thank you.
